Ten Rivers Region

Canoe Guide HeartLand Adirondack   ENTER HERE

The Ten Rivers Recreational Area is truly the "Heartland" of the Adirondacks and part of the nation's largest forest preserve this side of Alaska. In this area you will find some of the best canoeing and kayaking in the world. These ancient crossroads were the portages and byways of early settlers and aboriginal cultures who traveled between the Mohawk Valley, Lake Champlain and the St. Lawrence. Today the area is used by the contemporary explorer and eco-tourist to find solace, adventure, comradeship and peace from the hectic pace of today’s modern world. Here you can step back into the past, photograph native wildlife, canoe and fish along miles of secluded rivers, lakes and streams and revisit the experiences of our ancestral past.

We've identified twenty significant areas for exploration. Whether it's pond-hopping in the St. Regis Wilderness Canoe Area, wildlife viewing at the Moody Wildlife Marsh in Tupper Lake, drifting down the long and lazy Raquette River, or shooting Class V rapids in the Hudson Gorge, the remarkable diversity of the Adirondack Heartland provides endless opportunity for everyone from the recreational paddler to hard-core, whitewater enthusiats. The possibilitis are endless, from a leisurely day trip to a fully outfitted trek lasting a week or more. There are experienced guides and outfitters throughout the region ready to provide the knowledge, skill, and equipment you’ll need for an enjoyable outing.
