One of the earlier hotels in Tupper lake was the Russell House in Faust (Tupper Lake Junction) The Russell House catered to itinerant woodsmen, pedlers and other traveling men who sought work in this pioneer village of the early 1900s. Just across the street, and up the road  was the new railroad station.
