The Iroquois Hotel was built in 1902 by Frederick H. LaDuke on the site occupied by the Commercial House prior to the 1899 fire that destroyed the Village. In the late 1920s the hotel had the distinction of housing Tupper Lake's first radio station. Under new owners a fourth story was added in the late twenties and the hotel added 18 new sleeping rooms to bring the total to 56 rooms. Major improvements were added to the Hotel  in the late 1930s by Mr. and Mrs. Michael Pisanchin. They installed a new bar, the Indian Room and private dinning rooms with a modern lobby and dinning area. In the 1950's Mrs. Aldona Oberlander purchased the Hotel and continued the modernization process. The Hotel changed hands a few times until 1973 when the then current owners fell into bankruptcy. It was not long after that the old Hotel met the fate of so many other Adirondack hotels and burnt to the ground. Today, Stewart's Quickstop is located on the site of the former hotel.
